Several things to do and something to think about

I fell asleep in a matter of moments. I was so tired from the emergency appy and rescuing my godfather. A few times during the night, I got up, walked around and stretched a bit since I was stiff and sore from the scuffle I got into with Jordy, my former partner.
One of the nurses felt bad for my and gave me another child strength Tylenol to help and some herbal tea. She is one of the new nurses here in the hospital and I barely knew her but we talked a little bit. She was a nosy one. She knows me as the woman who saved the hospital but doesn’t know my name…thankfully. She was asking me about the chaos that happened but I didn’t tell her at all. I was becoming uncomfortable with her questions so I pretended to be tired and returned to my room.
Once I went back in, I locked the door and I texted Matt asking him to come to room but he needs to bring the key because I locked the door. He replied that I must have a good reason why I did.
He came over in a matter of moments, bringing me a ginormus mug of hot chocolate. He knows me so well!! We started to talk quietly since Vin was still sleeping. I shared my concerns with him of the new nurse. Matt agreed with me that the concerns are real; he felt the same when Don, Paolo and I first got into the hospital and gave me her name so I could run a more thorough background check on her. Until then, Matt was going to keep her FAR away from Giuseppe, Paolo and myself…..Thankfully!
Vin wakes up a few minutes later so Matt and I end out discussion about the nurse. I decide to run a background check on her with a special app on my phone. As it’s working, I put down my phone and talk with Matt about the don and Paolo. They’re doing better but need to stay in the hospital for a few more days; partially because of trauma and partially due to their age. I trust Matt and if he trusts his colleagues working on the don and Paolo, then I ought to have faith and trust in them as well.
Matt left to go get my discharge papers.
“So. Once he steps down, you’re walking away? Like that’s it? No longer helping the family?” Vince asked.
“Yep. Not sure what will happen to the family after that. The don and I will still be in each other’s lives because not only is he my Godfather, he’s my godfather. He’s the only father figure that I’ve had in my life for years. To end that relationship is not beneficial to either of us. We see each other as blood family. My fear is that after this whole ordeal, he doesn’t have much time left. I think he’ll step down in a matter of weeks. He isn’t too close to his biological children so if need be, I’ll either buy a larger apartment and he’ll live with us OR I’ll put him in an assisted living place for people his age. We’ll see what he wants,” I said.
“Last resort is that he lives with us. Nothing against him but I barely know him. I’d rather it be just us and the baby,” Vince said. “I have so many years to catch up with you and getting to know our baby.”
“I understand,” I said. My phone started buzzing, beeping and vibrating. It was the background check on the nurse. I texted Matt stating that I had the results. Less than a minute later, he’s in the room a little bit out of breath.
“What’s the result say, Deppgrl?” Matt asked.
“A ton of fraud; Medicaid, Medicare primarily. Forging checks as well as a few suspicious deaths of patients in her care. You need to get her out of her ASAP, buddy. Like last week!!” I said.
Just as I finished talking, she barges in demanding who I was. Thankfully my boss was tipped off by my location of running the background check on her and also received the results, sent over a few officers to arrest her. Thankfully they came in time because she was lunging at me!
Hours later, I found out that she was charged with fraud, forging checks, the suspicious and attempted assault of an officer.
