“Don, you better have one hell of a reason to call me at
this hour in the morning. I’m trying to sleep. I love you but I’m – “ I don’t
get to finish my sentence. That pain in the ass!
“Maggie, you better get that old man on the phone right
NOW. I know about the engagement. Our parents are fine with it but I’m not. I’m
your older brother; it’s my job to protect you. Besides….what the hell happened?
How did it happen? He was your teacher for God’s sake! I know that you’re with
him in his bed in his condo” my annoying 31 year old brother said.
“Donny, Vinnie is my fiancé. If you want to speak with
him, you better start treating him as well as me with respect. I don’t need our
parents’ permission & I sure as hell do NOT need your permission. Our
parents like him & see that I’m happy with him. I am 29 years old. I can
marry who the hell I want to. What happened is that we saw each other last
summer, had chemistry, we dated & I called it quits because it got so
serious so fast – I was scared. How it happened? Bro, it was meant to be. No
shit with him being my teacher! He was your teacher too!”
I hand my phone off to Vinnie to see if he could talk
some sense into my brother – which I highly doubt. Vinnie takes my phone &
heads into the other room. I wasn’t worried…Vinnie is a classy guy; MY classy
guy. Since Vinnie & I were up for most of the night, I decide to go back to
bed while the “boys” duke it out.
I don’t know how long Vinnie was on the phone with the
ever annoying brother of mine, but I wake up in Vinnie’s arms. I feel safe,
protected….wait. Something was wrong.
“Vin…” I begin.
“Baby, you’re brother’s not going to give you a hard time
about us anymore. He calmed down. He knows I’m going to take care of you”
Vinnie replied.
“It’s not that, but you didn’t use protection at all, did
you?” I ask.
“No, I didn’t. I didn’t think; I’m sorry. Is that what’s
wrong?”
“Of sorts” I say as I get out of bed, “I’m going to make
some coffee then I’m going to take a shower”
I grab my robe, put it on & head downstairs. I find
the coffee beans easily. I’m in heaven….Starbucks coffee beans. There’s nothing
in the world that can make me as happy as Starbucks. Once I hear the coffee
machine starting to grind the beans, I run upstairs to take a quick shower. I’ve
got a ton of things to do.
I’m out of the shower in record time. As I’m getting
dressed in “business attire” I open my Spotify account & rock out to Queen.
That Freddie Mercury is something else….what a vocal range! Anyways, once I’ve
finished straightening my hair & putting on makeup, I grab my professional
files and go downstairs. I fill the largest travel mug I can with coffee, scarf
down a banana and tell Vinnie that I’m heading out for a few hours.
As I’m outside, I act as if I’m going to walk to the
condo’s garage to get Vinnie’s SUV but I call the limo service that I use often
& place a request for my favorite driver. In a matter of a few minutes,
Seamus appears in Jag. I hop in the front seat beside him and ask him to bring
me to local FBI building. Seamus knows not to ask me questions that deal with
professional connotations. In no time, I arrive at the building. I jump out
onto the sidewalk in my five inch Jimmy Choo stilettos and face the building. I
sigh.
The last time I entered the building, I handed in my
resignation and left. I walk in and check in with reception. Minerva’s still at
reception. She immediately gives me a visitor’s pass and tells me to go on up
to speak with “the boys” who are in the first conference room on the left.
I take the elevator up since I couldn’t climb 25 stories
up in these shoes without my feet killing me in the first 5 minutes. I head to
the conference room and barge right in.
“Hello, boys,” I say, “Did you miss me?”
Twenty five of the senior members of the FBI in this
location stare at me with their jaws on the floor.
“Close your mouths; you don’t want to swallow any bugs,
do you?” I ask, “I’m coming back to work. I’m recently engaged to a wonderful
man. Once we’re married, we’re moving to Italy & become Italian citizens. I’ll
continue to work with you guys as well as work with the Vatican City police. I
expect your full cooperation & demand your respect. If there’s nothing
else, I’m going back to my condo and continue to plan my wedding. You all have
my number. Call me when you decide to have me come back into the office. I’m
sure that Monday morning at 6 am works well for everyone? If you’re not there
by 5:45 am, don’t bother to come to work anymore. I’ll sign your walking
papers. Have a good day, gentlemen!”
I storm out of the conference room, stopping at Minerva’s
desk to arrange a permanent identification badge for me as well as arranging
my FBI badge & my FBI issued weapon.
I give her a hug and leave. Seamus is still double parked.
I hop into the front seat again & take of my shoes.
He speeds off back to the condo. I need more coffee. Once I’m home &
upstairs changing, Vince clears his throat but I didn’t hear him.
“How did you get that scar on your shoulder? Looks like a
bullet wound gone wrong!”
I gasp & spin around.
“Vinnie, please don’t sneak up on me again. You almost
gave me a heart attack!” I reply.
“Marguerite, please answer my question. What happened to
your shoulder?”
“You know I was an FBI agent until I retired a year ago,
right?” Vinnie nods his head to say yes, “I was on a case involving a
kidnapping of someone famous. I hate wearing those bulky Kevlar vests – I wasn’t
wearing one that day. The kidnapper took a shot to scare away my team but he
had bad aim. I got hit in the shoulder. The bullet didn’t hit any bone, just
got lodged in some muscles and ligaments. I made a tourniquet out of a piece of
my shirt. Once we had the kidnapper subdued, I then allowed an ambulance to
take me to the hospital. Once the ER doctor saw me and how much blood I lost, I
was given local anesthetic to numb the area. I was rushed into an operating
room, the ER doc and a surgeon came in moments later. They did an emergency
surgery to get the bullet out and to repair whatever damages were done to the
muscles and ligaments. I was in there for 4 hours. After recovering and going
to physical therapy, I still didn’t have great range of motion so I retired.
Before my boss signed my walking papers, he asked me if I knew the kidnapper. I
told him that I did but didn’t tell him who it was. He got mad, signed my
papers and let me go.”
“Oh my word, Marguerite. That’s horrible. How’s your
shoulder now? Wait. Where did you go this morning in such a rush?”
“My shoulder acts up once in a while. I went to the
office. I’m back on the team but as a consult agent. I’ll still travel with the
team on rare occasions.”
“Who was the kidnapper? Could you tell me who it was?”
“Vinnie, I cannot tell you nor can I tell anyone else.”
“Oh. My. Gosh. It was my brother Bobby. That’s why he
left us so much money!”
“I’m unable to confirm or deny that it was Bobby,” I say,
keeping my face blank. “It’s classified information. I’m not talking about this
case or my scar anymore. I’ve already said more than I should’ve. I’m going for
a run.”
I change quickly and start for Central Park. I know
better to not go by myself on the jogging paths but I go anyways. In order to
help regain full range of motion of my shoulder, I took Krav Maga lesson and
still continue those lessons. I ended up jogging five miles, sprinted for a
mile and full out ran for another three miles.
I sigh. It’s time to go home to the condo and face my fiancé.
How was I going to tell him that it wasn’t Bobby who shot me but instead him
being the one to protect me? How was I going to tell him that it was my partner
from my team that was the kidnapper?
“Vince, after my shower, we need to talk. There’s more
that you need to know.”
This shower was a little longer than the shower that I
took this morning. After drying off and getting dressed, I drank water as
Vinnie was making me a Jack and Coke. I put my glass down on the counter and
walk over to him. I gently put my hand on his arm and say his name quietly. He
puts the shaker down and faces me. I curled my other arm around his neck to
tilt his face towards me; I go on my tip toes to gently kiss my wonderful fiancé.
He puts both arms around me to pull me flush to his body.
I feel his desire for me growing as we’re taking our clothes off heading to the
living room. He lays me down on the couch and starts to kiss me down my body. Before
he goes too far, I tell him to take me now, to make love with me. He reaches
for his jeans nearby to get protection, but I stop him. He turns back to me and
gently entered me, caressing my body, nipping my neck & kissing me. After what
seems so soon, we climax together; him unloading into me, filling me with his
essence. I knew at that moment, I was going to make him a father soon.
I had to break it to Vinnie that I’m going back to the office Monday
morning. I suggested we get one of the judges I personally know to perform a
wedding for us. He loves the idea. I dump the Jack & Coke down the drain as
Vince collects our clothes.
I text my mother what the plan is for Monday afternoon
and ask her to send the word to immediate family. Both Vince and I turn our
phones off so we won’t get disturbed for the next few hours.
As I stretch out on the bed, lying on my back, Vinnie
rests his hand on my stomach and smiles. I can tell that he’s excited about
being a father. He snakes his hand up to my breasts, giving a slight squeeze. I
moan his name and spread my legs, feeling wetness between the apex of my
thighs.
He gets on the bed, straddles my hips and adjusts himself
between my legs. With one swift thrust, he enters me; I moan his name again. I feel
him harden inside me, I moan again. Vinnie looses all control, grabs my hips
and ravishes me. We climax together again and I feel him pumping his essence
into me again. He lies down next to me and holds me in his arms.
“Amore mio, tu sei la donna più bella che ho visto e sono
fortunati ad avere come mia moglie in un paio di giorni. Sono più innamorato di
te ogni giorno che passa. Mentre iniziamo la nostra famiglia, non potrei essere
più felice di quanto io sono un momento” Vince says.
“I’m not as fluent in Italian as you are, love. What did
you say?” I ask.
“I said: ‘My love, you are the most beautiful woman I
have seen and am blessed to have as my wife in a few days. I am more in love
with you as each day passes. As we start our family, I could not be any happier
than I am right now’. You are my life, my everything. I love you.” Vince
replies.
As I begin to cry “happy” tears, Vinnie holds me tighter
in his arms until we fell asleep. We woke up around 11 pm tonight, hungry – for
food. Since we’d been too busy with “certain” activities, we hadn’t done any
food shopping. The only thing that we found was bananas that’d be ripe in
another day, so we made do. We had bananas and orange juice for dinner.
After eating, Vince went to bed. I snuck into the office.
I started up my laptop and turned on the phone. My mother replied saying that
she sent the word out and is looking forward to Monday afternoon. The other
text I received was from my brother, Don. He said that he’d be there to give me
away and that he’s excited to do that because there’ll be someone else to take “care”
of me
