Around 10 pm this past Saturday night, we decided to screw like rabbits on his deck. He’d been riding me so hard for a long time that my apex was sore; I was screaming in pleasurable pain. One of the neighbors called the cops on us to see what the screaming was all about.
We were catching our breath when the cops walked up. They looked at us with confused looks on their faces and asked if everything was ok. I said all was good as I was pulling the blanket up to cover my chest. They asked me again then they explained that they received a phone call from a concerned neighbor who said that they heard screaming. Vince immediately looked at me.
“Look,” I said trying to explain this to the cops. “My boyfriend and I are very loud and very passionate people as we’re both of Italian descent. Yeah, I know. It’s late at night. My boyfriend and I get a little loud during sex.”
“We?” Vince asked sarcastically. “Are you sure it’s both of us are loud? Or is it just you?”
“Yes,” I said. “WE get loud. Officers, I’m so sorry that you were called out on an unnecessary trip out here. We’re both ok. I appreciate the both of you coming out here. Feel free to go through the door at the deck to grab water if you guys want.”
The officers declined the offer and as they were leaving, they heavily suggested that we quiet down a bit if we decide to have sex outside again. We thanked them. As soon as the cops were out of sight, Vince and I laughed hard.
We stayed outside for a little bit to look at the stars and we talked about life and us. As it became colder and the blanket wasn’t keeping us warm anymore, we went inside. Vince went into the kitchen to open another bottle of wine as I hopped into the shower to warm up. After a quick shower and got dressed into a fuzzy nightgown, I went downstairs to the living room where Vince was waiting for me.
I sat down on the couch and accepted the glass of wine. Vince asked me if I wanted to watch a movie or just listen to music so I told him that drinking wine and reading a book was fine with me. He smiled and nodded his head as he rested his one hand on my leg.
Once in a while he’d ask if I wanted a refill of my wine but for the most part we were silent. Eventually, he did put music on - of course it was Josh Groban - and rested one of his hands in my leg again. We sat like this for a little bit before he had to ask a dumb question.
"Babe?" Vince asked. "I have a question to ask you."
"Mmm?" I said half heartedly as I took a sip of wine. "What's up?"
"I'm pretty sure that I know what your answer's going to be but I want to revisit it, babe," he said.
"Then don't ask it," I said as I flipped a page in my book. "Just so you know, if you're going to ask me to marry you again....the answer will be no. I don't trust you implicitly; you've lied to me in the past, you've cheated on me AND you hit me. Yeah, I know that you're trying to fix it but unfortunately, you can't fix it. The answer will always will be no."
"I felt that us dating again was a sign that we were leading that way," he said. "I'm sorry that you feel like I can't fix it and I know that I can't. I'm trying my best to show you that I am putting in the work to show you that I'm not going to repeat the hurt and pain that I caused you. Babe...I love you so much and I just want to spend the rest of my life with you."
"Babe," I said, looking up from my book and took a gulp of my wine. "I appreciate the effort and the work to show me that you're changing your life for the better but you've hurt me significantly - I've forgiven you but your betrayal still hurts. I won't - and can't - marry you no matter how much I love you but at the end of the day, I just don't trust you. Please, stopping asking me."
Unfortunately, the conversation got heated - verbally. We started screaming at each other and we got loud. We didn't see the flashing lights of a police car before it parked by Vince's place. The next thing we know, there's a loud knocking on the door; I thought the door would be broken down.
"Police! Open up!"
We stopped screaming at each other and then Vince opened the door to the police. It was the same two officers that had swung by before; he invited them in. I came into the foyer so it would be easier for us and the officers. One officer took Vince into the kitchen and the other one and I went to the living room. We both shared what happened with the officers. After a little bit, the officers got what they needed for their official report, asked us to keep it down in the future and they left, leaving Vince and I just looking at each other in the foyer. I shrugged my shoulders, left him in the foyer, grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and went to bed in the spare room, locking the door before I climbed into bed.
I slept well Saturday night and woke up early on Sunday morning, I hopped into the shower, got dressed, packed my stuff and left. I wanted to get my stuff for work ready and my laundry done. By mid afternoon, I received a call from Vince to apologize for starting the fight and for asking me to marry him; he assumed that I would agree since we are dating again. I thanked him for his apology and hung up on him. I went to my room to take a nap and it was SO peaceful. I woke up refreshed and felt like I will be ready to start work on Monday.
