A friend has recently told me that both she and her child have chemical imbalances and that they need a good friend to be there for them; to talk with their family (they’re not terribly close) and other friends, take care of their pets, have her calls forwarded to me (after she spoke to her job), etc.
My friend had left her child with an aunt and uncle and admitted to the hospital for stress, anxiety and depression. About 3 or 4 days later, her child was brought into the same hospital for self harm and since the aunt and uncle aren’t my friend’s child (obviously as they are older), they couldn’t do anything other than go up to visit my friend. They told her and she called me to come to her area (6 hours from where I am) to help her out.
By the time I packed and go there, she signed herself out against medical advice to be with her child. I’d asked if she had anyone from the hospital to talk to with her “bumps” in the road but she didn’t respond but she said that they’d been evaluated 3 times and they’re still waiting for a bed for her child as they’re still in the ER.
Apparently, in their area…they don’t have the greatest mental health care as they do here in my area and the facilities don’t really cater to kids through teen years; the facilities are primarily for adults. Not sure if the hospital that they’re in has a psych ward (like my local hospital does) or not…..I want to ask if it does and if they’ll allow a 15 year old be admitted the ward; don’t want to over step my boundaries
